Prison Economic Reform Educational Program


1. Who can enroll in the PEREP Program?
1) The PEREP Program is for the General Public, including prisoners and ex-prisoners.
2) Anyone ages 18 and above can apply for PEREP.


2. How much is the PEREP course and what do I receive?
1) If you are an inmate or ex-inmate, the course is free. UPMI will pair you with your state’s sponsorship.
2) The PEREP Course is $99.00, plus $25.00 state sponsorship.
3) The $25.00 state sponsorship is the sustaining arm of the PEREP program for prisoners and ex-prisoners to receive the Course. Your donation is tax-deductible.


3. I have a family member or friend in prison. How do I go about enrolling them?

 

1) Send in your tax-deductible sponsorship pledge of $99.00, plus $25.00 for state sponsorship:
1. Visit website at: www.upmi.org and complete the PEREP Prisoner/s or Ex-Prisoner/s registration form.

2) If this is for an ex-prisoner, please provide name, address, email address and phone number.
3) You will need the inmate’s name, ID#, Prison and Prison address.
4) UPMI will contact the inmate as well as the prison chaplain or superintendent to verify how many books the inmate may receive at one time. The first course will be mailed to the inmate once this information is received. UPMI will also contact the chaplain or prison official regarding conducting a PEREP class at the facility.
5) The inmate will receive a certificate at the completion of each course for a total of 3 certificates.


4. I am a prisoner or an ex-prisoner and I would like to take your PEREP Program. How do I enrol?


1) If you are a prisoner or an ex-prisoner you may enroll in the PEREP Program:

5. I would like to sponsor an inmate or inmates in my state.
1) You may sponsor a prisoner or prisoners. Your tax-deductible sponsorship is $99 per inmate, plus $25.00 state sponsorship. You may sponsor as many inmates as you desire.
2) To sponsor a PEREP class of 20 students: $1,980, plus $250 state sponsorship. There is no limit on sponsorships.


6. Is this course for a certain denomination/religion?
1) The Prison Economic Reform Educational Program (PEREP) has a biblical foundation with a non-sectarian approach. It is designed to teach prisoners, ex-prisoners, or anyone interested, self-reliance through life skills and entrepreneurship. PEREP empowers individuals in the area of spirituality, self-development, and self-reliance.


7. Can this PEREP Course be taught in a Christian school?
1) Yes, PEREP can be taught in a Christian school. PEREP empowers individuals in the area of spirituality, self-development, and self-reliance. The information is of tremendous benefit to everyone.


8. Is there a discount for large groups or classes?
1) The cost of the PEREP Course is the same for any size group due to the interactive scope of the program and the use of textbooks and workbooks. Each individual pays $99, plus $25 state sponsorship.


9. My church or organization is interested in your program. How do I schedule a speaking engagement?
1) Hotel accommodations, meals, and travel must be covered.
2) A small honorarium is requested for the PEREP state sponsorship.

10. Is there video instruction?
1) PEREP is self-directed and comes with written instructions for all 3 courses.
2) PEREP video presentation will be available soon and will be announced via our website: www.upmi.org.


11. How do I schedule a meeting with the PEREP Program Director?

12. Can I schedule the PEREP Program Director to teach the course? What does it cost?
1) Yes. There is a flat rate fee in addition to the number of students attending. Hotel accommodations, meals, and travel must be covered.

13. What is the duration of the PEREP Program? What materials are needed and what is provided?
1) The PEREP Course is set up to be taught in the prison or class setting over a 90 Day period.
2) Students who take the self-directed course may complete the course at their pace.
3) Students receive 6 textbooks and 1 workbook that comprise the PEREP Program.

4) Students will need to have a Bible (inmates will receive a free Bible by request), and a pen or pencil to complete the assignments. The assignments are printed in the textbooks and workbook so students do not need handouts or additional paper.


14. How do you set up a PEREP Program in a prison?
1) Each prison schedules the time and date for starting the PEREP Program at their facility. Authorization comes from the prison official at the facility.

15. When can I enroll or start the PEREP Program?
1) You can enroll in the PEREP Program at any time.


16. I am interested in hosting/teaching the PEREP Program. How do I enroll in a teacher's training session? Is it available online, video, teacher's workbook or in-person sessions?
1) Video instruction is coming soon.
2) PEREP is set up as a self-directed course, however an instructor can be requested.

17. How long is the PEREP Program? Can the PEREP Program be divided?
1) PEREP is currently set up to run for 90 Days in the prison. There are three courses in the PEREP Program: Course 1, 2, & 3. The courses are taken in sequence and cannot be divided.


18. Can I order just the books I want?
1) The PEREP Program books are packaged as a set only.


19. Is there a limit on how many a person or organization can sponsor?
1) No, there is no limit on how many you can sponsor.


20. May I order flyers, brochures or posters for my church or organization?
1) You are welcome to download the flyers or posters for your use that are located on the website at www.upmi.org.


21. Is there a sample of the PEREP Course available?
1) There is no sample of the Course. The Course Syllabus provides an overview with the Course Objectives, Student Learning Outcomes, and the Course Calendar.
